POPTICUM

Manifesto for http://www.protocol-magazine.de

In collaboration with Lasse Skafte and Erik Vogler

The installation was conceived around the German term 'Platzangst,' encompassing both agoraphobia and claustrophobia. Comprising three volumes of inflated foil, the installation unfolds in a mesmerizing choreography of light. By expanding the foils to their maximum capacity, we introduced a third dimension to the experience: the fear of bursting from overpressure. However, rather than succumbing to rupture, the structures evolve into popcorn-like forms, gradually asserting their presence and claiming more space. Not knowing when this growth will stop the visitor  will discover the entrance, reclaiming the golden void within.
